Illachi World Cuisine : Restaurant branding
Salt were approached to create a branded interior scheme for Herfordshire restaurant Illachi. The brief was to capture the colour and variety of the world foods they specialise in for a welcoming and family friendly eating experience.
Our concept centred around art and culture from around the world and we formed a team with illustrator Linda Scott and designer Sue Smith to work on this long term project. Linda Scott created detailed map murals for the restaurant glazing and as dramatic backdrops for the interior. We designed a series of unique patterns applied to print including menus and placemats, and to surfaces and fixtures to create clear zones for each country.
Decorative paint specialists were used to create bespoke the wall textures, and a distressed copper bar was commissioned as a centrepiece to the Mexican themed area. We sourced authentic decorative items from India, China and Mexico to furnish the space, including a full sized bicycle 'Tuk Tuk' shipped all the way from Mumbai.
